10/19/06 Meeting

The Tri-County Toastmasters club met on Thursday 10-19-06 at the Virden Area Community Center. Club members present at Thursday’s meeting were: Les Apps, Jim Blankenship from New Berlin, John Davidson, Rev. Ron Grimes, Marcia Osterholt, Alan Saeger and Billy Watkins. One guest, Rev. Howard Shockey was also in attendance at the meeting.

Jim Blankenship served as the Toastmaster of Thursday’s meeting. Ron Grimes led a special Halloween themed impromptu speaking portion of the meeting, during which each participant was given a different question. Each then delivered a one to two minute response.

The evening’s prepared speaker was Marcia Osterholt, who gave a speech entitled “Never never never give up”. It was her second speech as a Toastmasters member.

The Toastmasters club will next meet on Thursday November 2, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center at 105 West Jackson Street in Virden. The scheduled speakers for next meeting are John Davidson and Auburn's Liz Mollett. “Guests and new members are always welcome to attend our club meetings, which are devoted to helping people to improve their communication and leadership skills” states club vice-president Todd Austin.
