July 7, 2007 Meeting


Todd Austin gave an informative speech about the PADI Peak Performance Bouyancy SCUBA Diving specialty course at Thursday’s Tri-County Toastmasters meeting.


The Tri-County Toastmasters club met on Thursday 7-5-07 at the Virden Area Community Center. Club members present at Thursday’s meeting were: Dr. Todd Austin, Jim Blankenship, Liz Mollett, Alan Saeger and Bill Watkins.


Billy Watkins served as the meeting’s master of ceremonies. Liz Mollett from Auburn conducted the Tabletopics or impromptu speaking portion of the program. Mollett asked each participant a ‘current events’ question.

The evening’s prepared speaker was Dr. Todd Austin. Austin’s gave an informative speech titled “Look Mom, No Hands!”. His speech was about a recent SCUBA Diving class that he took called the PADI Peak Performance Bouyancy Specialty Course. PADI stands for the Professional Association of Dive Instructors, and is the most well known SCUBA instruction organization in the world. Austin’s speech was evaluated by Jim Blankenship from New Berlin.


The Toastmasters club will next meet on Thursday July 19, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center at 105 West Jackson Street in Virden. The scheduled speaker for next meeting is New Berlin's Jim Blankenship. “Our club is a community club, so all area residents are invited and encouraged to attend.
