Toastmasters Club Meets 5/1/08. Plans Open House.

Jim Blankenship was the prepared speaker at Thursday’s Tri-County Toastmasters meeting. He gave a presentation from the Advanced Communicator Manual on Persuasive Speaking called “Why To Join Toastmasters”.

The Tri-County Toastmasters club met on Thursday 5-1-08 at the Virden Area Community Center. Club members in attendance at Thursday’s meeting were: Todd Austin, Jim Blankenship, John Davidson, Liz Mollett, Casey Tom and Bill Watkins.

Todd Austin from Virden served as the meeting’s Toastmaster or master of ceremonies. Casey Tom was in charge of the Tabletopics, which is the impromptu speaking portion of the program. During Tabletopics, Tom presented each participant with a different question related to Disney theme parks with all questions inspired by his recent family vacation to Disney World. Each respondent then gave a 1 to 2 minute impromptu response.

The evening’s prepared speaker was Jim Blankenship from New Berlin. Blankenship, a member of both the Tri-County Club and Springfield’s recently chartered AIG Club, gave an informative presentation about how anyone could benefit from joining Toastmasters entitled “Why to Join Toastmasters.” John Davidson evaluated Blankenship’s speech.
