Tri-County Toastmasters Club meets.

John Davidson gave an  informative speech about “Heart Attacks in Women” at the last Tri-County  Toastmasters meeting.   
 
The Tri-County Toastmasters club met on Thursday 6-21-07 at the Virden  Area Community Center.  Club members  present at Thursday’s meeting were:  Dr.  Todd Austin, John Davidson, Liz Mollett, Alan Saeger and Bill Watkins.  
Todd Austin served as the meeting’s master of ceremonies. Billy Watkins conducted the Tabletopics or impromptu speaking portion of the program. Watkins asked each participant a question with the theme of ‘silly questions that the new guy at work might ask you in an effort to get to know you better’.
The evening’s prepared speaker was John Davidson. Davidson gave a speech about “Heart Attacks In Women”. The project was an informative speech which stressed the statistic that heart attacks are more prevalent above the age of 50 in women (whereas they are prevalent below the age of 50 in men). He then covered several heart attack warning signs that pertain to women.
The Toastmasters club will  next meet on Thursday July 5, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center at 105  West Jackson Street in Virden.  The  scheduled speaker for next meeting is Todd Austin.  “Our club is a community  club, so all area residents are invited and encouraged to attend.  Whether your goal is to lead a business  meeting, just gain some confidence as a speaker or to talk to an entire room  full of people, Toastmasters is an awesome, yet extremely cost-effective  opportunity to fine-tune one’s communication and leadership skills” states  acting club president Liz Mollett.
